Hope is Action

Presented by the Christopher Moller Gallery.
3 march 2022

We have seen the movement that change demands from us, and we have experienced the nature of what it requires to get there. With his latest release, Dennis Osadebe monumentalizes our role as the generators to change.

Osadebe unpacks the simple thought of naïve curiosity; these moments when we ask in order to learn, ask to be answered and ask to explore. As history would let us know, these moments have a combination of fierce humility and brave action. It is these moments that propel the power of evolution, progress, change and even solution.

When was the last time you asked a question worth hoping for?

DENNIS OSADEBE

'Hope Is Action' captures the bravery in the act of speaking up. Through exploring universal gesture, the work considers the power of raised hands in relation to hope for our future, in considering how questioning leads to change. The playful nature of the figure re-ignites a youthfulness in our own curiosity while serving as a visual reminder of the potential for progress held by the future generation.
